Kuwait International Fair (KIF) was established in 1971 with paid up capital of 654,000 KD, which then changed to 2 Million KD in 1984 and then to 3 Million KD in 1997. It's a closed Kuwait Shareholding Company whose principal shareholders are Kuwait Investment Authority (KIA) and Kuwait Investment Company (SAK). The company's main activities include:
1. Preparation, management and supervision of local and international exhibitions.
2. Promotion and advertisement for various exhibits.
3. Co-ordination and maintenance of relations between the exhibit and the relevant public and commercial bodies.
4. Facilitating of all services necessary for holding exhibits.
5. Building shops and Entertainment & Commercial Centers.
6. Buying shares from the stock market of Kuwait.
The company's activities are focused around the vast Kuwait International Fairs Ground, located in Mishref, where its six fully air-conditioned exhibition halls offer the capability to host any kind of promotional event, from major trade shows and expos to product launches and seminars.
Flagship of the facility is Hall 8, an ultra-modern 7,000 sq m complex which opened in 2002. The striking exterior design - visible for miles around - is a showcase in itself, housing a vast exhibition hall and a luxurious VIP lounge and reception area. Its 200-seat theatre, featuring the latest audio-visual aids, is perfect for the seminar programs that often run alongside major expos.
Exhibitors and delegates are always well catered for, with the on-site KIF Business Center offering full secretarial and office support services during events. Refreshment facilities are provided at a modern cafeteria located between Halls 5, 6 and 7, while the McDonald's drive-through restaurant, centrally located in the complex, is open to congress visitors and general public alike.
The 40-plus events organized every year by Kuwait International Fair cover the entire spectrum of business. Highlights of the calendar include the International Arabic Books Exhibition, International Trade Fair, Boat Show, Perfumes and Cosmetics Show, Ramadan & Eid Exhibition and the February Festival - part of the Kuwait-wide shopping and entertainment extravaganza that has become an annual tourism event.
KIF organizes approximately 45 exhibitions yearly (including other events). It places special importance on exhibitions arranged at the International Fair Grounds on behalf of countries. The company has made tremendous strides in successfully offering the best of services and facilities for these types of exhibitions, this in turn, has encouraged a number of countries to arrange commercial and industrial exhibitions in Kuwait.
Other event-related services available as part of the KIF package include stand design and construction, customs clearance for exhibition material, organizing of visas, flight and hotel reservations, and promotion and advertising of events to the local market.
KIF has chair in the Steering Committee and is a member of the Arab Union for Exhibitions & Conferences since 1998 (Recognized by Arab League in Egypt) and also a member of Union Des Fories International (UFI) since 1983.
